Hoping someone out there is looking for a cat as a companion. Have just been on the PAWSS website and they have lots and lots of cats looking for homes. www.pawss.org.ukIf anyone is looking for a cat please get in touch with them. They don't have kittens but they do have young cats as well as older cats. All the best to everyone at New Arc for the fab job they do with all of their animals too.

Thanks to Happyrat and David for posting, there are so many unwanted cats needing new homes. We have today taken in yet another - a lovely 7 year old ginger lad who we hope will settle in well with our other feline residents in time. Unfortunately at this time of year many cats are being boarded with Centres who need to raise funds to keep their rescue centres open for the rest of the year, and consequently many do not have spaces available for the more "urgent" cases, prefering to take in holiday guests.

Another day, and more cat calls. We are taking in tomorrow two young (around 6 months old) male cats who were abandoned. The new property owner has been feeding them but already has 4 of her own, and things are getting a bit tricky for her. These two young boys were apparently in very poor health when she moved in and she was extremely worried they would not survive. However, she has nursed them back to health and asked if we would take them (as mentioned before everywhere else is completely full and CPL are bursting at the seams). They are arriving tomorrow when they will be assessed as to suitability for rehoming.

Okay Doky! So I said only two nights ago that we would not take in any more Cats! Not that I have anything against cats....but Pauline insists that they have to come home at night....which means that I now have an intimate knowledge of the surrounding countryside, and no doubt, every living thing in a 2 mile radius, has become accustomed to my voice booming out, and shouting for a variety of cat names I'll say it again...no more cats!... However.... I guess that we are a rescue organisation, and we can't actually ignore an animal in need.... Will keep you informed of our progress.

Wow having just read all the posts what a lot of cats needing new homes. I didn't realise just how many unwanted cats there were in this area or how many people there were out there taking care of them. How silliy of people to take on Holiday cats (there are lots of cattery's out there after all !! ) instead of rescue cases that really need the help. Keep up the good work everyone - I know I wouldn't be without my rescue moggies.

Hi Niki thanks for posting - its such a shame so many unwanted pets!
We have today taken in a tiny grey female kitten (approx 11 weeks old). If anybody can offer her a loving home please get in touch. She is very friendly and playful and would make a lovely friend for somebody.

Hi Nyah - this little girl came from a home with children, albeit not toddlers. As she only arrived today I have no idea what she would be like with dogs. If you would like to be considered for her, do pop up and visit and we can chat further.
Thanks for showing an interest !

HI Pauline I can vouch that the kitten has probably never seen a dog before the two I have are very hissy at the dogs but getting bolder now, when they first saw the dogs they were teriffied. HOpe you manage to get her a good home.

Fab job for rescuing so many animals. It says on your front page you dont rehome dogs and cats? does that mean you will keep the cats you have taken in? I do voluntary work for paws just in fostering a few small furries, i saw the comment on the gerbil post, are you miffed at them? cause they have load of gerbils, rats, mice and other small furries mostly longtermer in care, I think they would only give out your number if they felt they couldnt help. I just think all rescues should help each other

Hi Happybun, always nice to see a new face on the forum Must admit to a 'soft spot' for the cats we get in. We firmly believe in trying to improve the lives of any of the animals we take in. They are only rehomed if we are satisfied that they will benefit by being placed with a new home. In most circumstances, this is easy as the new home can offer a 'one to one' relationship that we are simply unable to provide. Being fortunate enough to live where we do, well away from busy roads and with the stables, outbuildings and country environment, its fair to say most cats take to it very quickly. However we have also taken in 'house' cats such as a four year old Ginger Tom late last week. It became obvious quite quickly that he wouldn't settle into this busy lifestyle and we have found him a lovely home in the country with a large conservatory where he will feel loved and secure, while still being able to enjoy watching the garden from his cosy window seat. Although we would have been only to happy to keep him, we know that he will be pampered and happier in his new abode. Glad to hear your doing your bit for Paws The comment ( if you read it again ) was meant in fun as we had only just reduced our numbers to 39 from 52, when Paws put 10 more our way, 2 of which were pregnant Since then we have rehomed many to new homes some as far away as Edinburgh to a lovely couple with ther kids came up especially to take a bonded pair of boys. We have rehomed 11 in the past week alone and still have 58 available. Several are older 'single' gerbils and as such we are happy to keep them here long term. However we also have 2 probably pregnant females, so we certainly wont run out We are quite happy to work with any Rescue Centre and also work closely with Willows and Blaikieswells as well as other local organisations. In fact we now liase with a number of organisations throughout Scotland and beyond. We are all trying to work towards the same aims even though we all have different methods. The truth is that there are not enough rescue centres out there to cope with the demand.

Hey Keith can't you use your wonderful "charm" and persuade Ken to buy me that house and land in the country? Then I can start up the Arc, Mark II LOL
