We recieved a phone call today from a concerned family in Peterhead.
They were worried about a possible mink that was loose and had attacked and bitten the lady of the house while she was in her garden.
Needless to say we managed to collect a lovely ferret who seemed more than happy to climb into a cat basket and eat as much cat food as he could manage
I must admit that this was probably the easiest 'rescue' I have ever been involved in
While I donned Gauntlets, opened cat food and considered which of the various items in our Jeep such as a 3 foot Cardboard tube and a variety of nets that I may have to use to secure this potentially 'wild' creature. He calmly walked out, sniffed at the cat box and when I opened the door, he walked in and made himself a nest in the shredded paper
I must admit that nobody was more surprised than me...although I think the family concerned seemed to be impressed by my 'animal magnetism'
Our new friend now goes by the name of Haggis. The Peterhead police ( who gave our number to the family ) are aware of the fact he is with us.
With it being the Easter break, it is quite possible that it may be a few days before his escape is noticed. In the meantime, he has settled in well and seems in excellent condition.
Anyone who knows anyone who has ferrets in Peterhead, Please pass on our number and get them to check their ferrets.
We often find that anyone losing a ferret, wants to keep things quiet for a few days in the hope that it returns home or they worry that the neighbours pet rabbits or Guinea pigs are dissappearing and dont want to draw attention to themselves.
He will stay here for as long as it takes. If nobody comes forward in the next couple of months then we will look at the potential for him being re-homed.
