We were called out early today to deal with an injured wild rabbit, that was near a bus stop, in the middle of Ellon.
Although it was a suspected 'RTA' - Road Traffic Accident - The young rabbit was found to be heavily infected by Mxymytosis, and sadly had to be put down.
The worrying thing is that, this rabbit was found in a very 'built up' area! This means that every Rabbit owner within the Ellon 'township' area, should take immediate measures to inoculate their pet rabbits against this horrible disease!
Please remember, that Mxyi is not only spread by personal rabbit to rabbit contact, Fleas, or even by close proximity. It can be spread by airborne insects such as midges etc.
You cannot consider your Rabbit safe, even if it is housed within a walled garden!
Please! Please! Please take that extra effort to safeguard your Pet!
