I have just been informed of two seperate incidents concerning pet rabbits in Potterton.
I can only advise that anybody with pet rabbits in the Potterton area takes immediate action to vaccinate their rabbits!!!
Myxomatosis is a dreadful disease. Please bear in mind that your rabbit is NOT safe because it is in a 'walled' garden, a hutch without an outside run, or even if it is an indoor rabbit!
The disease does not have to be transmitted by physical contact, or purely by infection through fleas. Any airborne biting insect - and we have a few of them up here - is capable of transmitting the disease to your pet.
The injection is relatively cheap - we suggest you shop around - and will safeguard your pet for the next 12 months.
In actual fact considering the latest outbreaks in both Ellon and Potterton, we would reccomend vacination if you live anywhere in Aberdeenshire.
