my dad and i are currently looking after the Terripines (like turtles) for keith and pauline after the fire as they did not have electricity to keep the heaters in the tanks working. we are very pleased to help out and my dad is fascinated with them!. sometimes he will go out just to see them (we keep them in our garage, there are 6 tanks!) with recently recieved a strange turtle thinggie which i named Gilly! he has a little pig sort of nose but i called him Gilly because of his long Girraffe neck! all together there are about 16 Amphibians 13 are female 2 male and Gilly we arent to sure. some of the Terripines are easy to tell the difference by...fr example The two males..they have long nails and one has red through his shell so we call him Red, and the other is called Noah. There are smaller terripines in one tank and the smallest one we called Charlie and in the biggest tank which i think is a 6ft, there are 4, three big ones and 1 little one, she is called Maggie i will try to get pictures of them....x [/img]

The turtle you have there going by your description is A Chinese Soft Shell. They are aggressive in nature so should be kept on their own. The substrate should be either sand or fine gravel as they like to bury into it with just their head or nose sticking out.
